Glow Theatre Group rehearsal sessions run for 3 hours on Saturday afternoons, from 2pm until 5pm. “Show Week” itself involves additional sessions – we hold technical and dress rehearsals, costume calls and photo calls at the theatre in the run up to the shows, and these would involve extra weekend sessions and some weekday evenings too. Show Week theatre sessions are compulsory attendance.

Glow Theatre Group is a vibrant, inclusive theatre community for young people aged 8–18. Whether they are stepping onto a stage for the very first time or already have years of performance experience, Glow gives young people the opportunity to grow in confidence, develop their skills and discover what they can achieve.

A place to belong

At the heart of Glow is our belief that theatre is about people as much as performance. We want every young person to feel welcome, valued and encouraged — a place where friendships grow, creativity is celebrated and everyone has the chance to find their voice.

We expect our members to help create that environment too. Kindness, respect, teamwork and consideration are at the heart of being part of Glow. Every student plays a part in creating a positive atmosphere, supporting their fellow performers and contributing to the success of our productions and projects.

We encourage our young people to be brave, creative, supportive and willing to have a go. Mistakes are part of learning, challenges are part of growing, and celebrating each other’s successes is part of being a Glow team.

We cannot accept behaviour that is harmful, disrespectful or detrimental to our young people, staff or the wider group. We take this seriously because everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and able to enjoy their time at Glow.

Joining Glow

Places at Glow are in high demand and we operate a waiting list. As spaces become available, they are offered to young people within the appropriate age group.

Glow is more than a theatre group — it’s a place to find your confidence, discover your creativity, make friendships and become part of something special.

At Glow Theatre Group, our young performers are part of one of three companies: Juniors, Intermediates or Seniors. Each company has its own identity, challenges and opportunities, allowing us to tailor rehearsals and productions to the age, experience and confidence of our performers.

Most of the time, each company works independently on its own exciting productions, giving every actor plenty of opportunities to be involved, develop their skills and take on meaningful roles.

For some projects — particularly our Festival plays — we split the companies into even smaller groups. This creates a more focused rehearsal environment and allows us to explore different styles of theatre, characters and stories in greater depth.

But every now and then, something BIG happens…

When Glow comes together!

Occasionally, we bring all three companies together for a huge, spectacular production, creating one combined cast of young performers from across Glow.

These are the shows where the whole group comes alive — big casts, big stories, big energy and big theatrical moments! Younger and older performers get the chance to work alongside one another, learn from each other and experience the thrill of being part of something much bigger than themselves.

Whether working in a small Festival cast or taking to the stage with the whole of Glow, there’s always something exciting happening!

At Glow Theatre Group, we want our young performers to experience the full magic of theatre — without parents having to worry about a long list of additional costs.

Membership is based on £8 per hour, with termly fees usually around £400. The exact amount varies from term to term depending on the length of the school term, so shorter terms mean lower membership fees.

And when we say the full theatrical experience, we really mean it!

The only thing your child needs to bring is their shoes!

We aim to make the experience as straightforward as possible for families, while giving our young performers everything they need to step onto the stage feeling prepared, confident and ready to shine.

When are fees due?

Termly fees are due two weeks after the start of each term.

Because school terms vary in length, membership fees may change slightly from one term to the next. We always calculate fees according to the number of hours in that particular term, so you only pay for the training and rehearsal time provided.

When your child joins Glow Theatre Group, they’re not just joining a rehearsal — they’re joining a team of experienced theatre professionals and dedicated youth leaders who are passionate about performance, creativity and helping young people thrive.

We carefully select every member of the Glow team for the skills, experience and enthusiasm they bring to the group. Our leaders have a wealth of experience across theatre, performance and working with children and young people, giving our actors the very best environment in which to learn, develop and grow.

But great theatre is about more than teaching lines and choreography. Our team are there to encourage, challenge and inspire our young performers — helping them build confidence, discover their strengths and feel proud of what they achieve.

Your child’s safety matters

We take the responsibility of working with young people extremely seriously. All members of the Glow team are carefully assessed for their suitability to work with children and are subject to DBS checks or appropriate personal references.

You can therefore feel confident that your child is being supported by a team who are not only passionate about theatre, but who also understand the importance of care, safeguarding, professionalism and creating a positive environment for every young performer.
